Kyle Walljasper wins NSIC Offensive Player of the Week after 6 TD game
UMD football was finally on the other end of a last minute score this past weekend, with much of that thanks to Kyle Walljasper’s massive day on the ground.
Walljasper’s performance was certainly noticed by the conference, as he was named the NSIC offensive player of the week, and with good reason. 420 total yards with 236 of those on the ground was good enough to claim the award. The 236 ground yards along with five rushing touchdowns was good for a career high, and also tied the biggest rushing game by any player in the history of the UMD program.
“Maybe I got a little faster, but I think our game plan was really good with our rushing attack and we made a couple adjustments. Our o-line, tight ends, full backs, running backs, all played a good part in that and had one of their best games, I think, physically, like blocking wise. So that helped me obviously,” said Walljasper.
Walljasper looks to rest up this week and lead the Bulldogs to another victory this weekend against Concordia St. Paul on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
