There will be a new U.S. Senator in Michigan
Statewide, Michigan voters will decide who to send to Washington to serve as one of the state’s Senators. There are six candidates on the ballot. This is one of eight open races for the U.S. Senate in 2024 where an incumbent is not running for re-election.
The candidates are vying for Deborah Stabenow’s seat, a seat the Democrat has held since being elected in 2001. She was the state’s firs female U.S. senator. Stabenow announced in January 2023 that she would not seek reelection.
A six-way challenge faces this race as Elissa Slotkin (D) is looking towards the Senate alongside of Mike Rogers (R), Douglas P. Marsh (G), Joseph Solis-Mullen (L), Doug Dern (Natural Law Party), and Dave Stein (U.S. Taxpayers party).
