Among the other choices on the ballot this year, Wisconsinites heading to the polls will decide who they want to represent them in the Senate.

Two-term incumbent Tammy Baldwin is attempting to defend her seat against the Republican challenger Eric Hovde.

Hovde, who describes himself as a “Wisconsin entrepreneur” has a background in banking. His campaign website lists issues including cost of living, immigration, foreign policy, and healthcare, criticizing many policies of the Biden administration while linking them to Baldwin.

Senator Baldwin’s website lists several positions on issues like lowering prescription drug prices, national security and reproductive rights.

Baldwin and Hovde candidates are Wisconsin natives, having both been born in Madison. Both candidates have positions on healthcare that they attribute to having been diagnosed with serious illnesses.

Baldwin is Wisconsin’s junior senator, serving along side Republican Ron Johnson. Wisconsin is considered a “purple” battleground state in the presidential election. All eight of its Congressional seats are up for grabs in 2024, with seven incumbents, two democrats and five republican running for re-election. The 8th district, is currently open after incumbent after Representative Mike Gallagher (R) resigned in April of 2024.
