On Wednesday the No. 8 Hermantown volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 1 Delano (31-0) in the Class AAA state quarterfinals held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. This marked the Hawks’ first state appearance since 2016.

Hermantown dropped set one 25-15, set two 25-20, and set three 25-10. The Hawks were led by Hope Kohanski with nine kills, Mikayla Sweeney with 12 set assists, and Claire Kaups with 17 digs.

Hermantown (23-6) will next face No. 4 Mahtomedi (25-5) in the consolation semifinals Friday at 9 a.m. at the Xcel Energy Center. For the full Class AAA bracket, Click here.
