Esko’s Koi Perich named semifinalist for Freshman of the Year award
On Wednesday, November 6 Esko native Koi Perich received a national nod. The Minnesota Gopher was named one of 14 semifinalists for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award. It’s presented to the college football freshman that best meets the four categories of: talent, character, ambassador, and legend.
Perich currently sits tied for second in the nation, and first in Big 10, in interceptions with five.
The Gophers are the only program to have two players named to the semifinal round, with fellow defensive back Kerry Brown joining Perich.
Finalists for the 7th annual Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award will be announced December 4, and the winner will be named December 26.
