Celebrating Asian culture at ADAA’s Asian Nightlife Under the Stars cultural show
The Asian Pacific American Association (ADAA) at the University of Minnesota Duluth hosted their annual cultural show at the Kirby Ballroom on Saturday night – celebrating and bringing light to Asian nightlife.
The cultural show connects the community with aspects of Asian culture that are important to not only the ADAA, but many students at UMD.

“For me as an advisor, it’s extremely important to make sure that my students know that their identities are important. They’re important at UMD, they’re important in Duluth, and it’s important to celebrate and acknowledge their full authentic self,” said ADAA advisor Azrin Awal, who was also a member of the association in her college years.
“Asian Nightlife, Under the Stars,” highlighted Asian nightlife – specifically Asian night markets. Local restaurants were also included in the event, recreating the food trucks at an Asian market.
The event was close to selling out, which excited members of the association.
