Justin Liles: A few more flakes looking to fly tonight

November 20th: A little more snow tonight

A little more snow tonight

The large upper-level low we have been dealing with has finally brought in enough cold air to generate some light snow. Scattered light snow showers will continue tonight into Thursday for portions of the area. Areas near Lake Superior will see more of a wintry mix to all rain. It’s one of those situations where we see more flakes on the hill and drizzle closer to the Lake. As temperatures warm above freezing tomorrow, lingering light snow will transition to light rain. Additional snow accumulations tonight through Thursday are expected to be under an inch. We are just looking at a light dusting in grassy surfaces. New snow accumulations are expected to be at or under an inch.

High pressure will start to build on Friday, bringing quiet conditions for Friday and Saturday. We may even see some sunshine on Friday. Winds finally look to die down too. The next chance for widespread precipitation arrives Sunday as a clipper moves through the area. As of now it looks as if most of the snow will stay up north. It doesn’t look like there will be much accumulation. Colder air will likely stick around through most of next week. Holiday travel for thanksgiving is looking perfect now.
