Hibbing woman proud of ADVENTURESS, the only women’s hunting and fishing magazine
Jennifer Pudenz grew up in Iowa. But she moved to Hibbing a few years ago, because she loves the Northwoods.
An avid outdoorswoman, she’s poured this passion into her magazine, ADVENTURESS. She told us it’s the only women’s hunting and fishing magazine.
“I started working on it in 2014, so it’s really exciting that it’s been 10 years,” she shared.
It started as a digital only. Then she launched an online store, where she features many small and women owned businesses. And last year, she launched a high quality print version.
“It’s really about encouraging and inspiring people to trying new things outdoors. It’s very informative, with how-to articles from experienced outdoorswomen. And anyone can learn from it, whether you’re a beginner or experienced,” she explained. “And it gives outdoor women the credit they deserve.”
“Women truly do have to do things differently than men outdoors. We get colder easily, and can’t carry as much weight, when it comes to your bow and your backpack,” she said. “It’s about sharing those items or gear, and how other women do it.”
She includes subscriber photos, and there’s always an additional segment about the outdoors as well. And the editor’s note includes how she ties her faith into the outdoors.
Although it’s challenging to do it on her own, she’s grateful for the support of the outdoor community.
Fun fact, she holds the Iowa state record turkey for a woman. Now, she and her dog Franklin have been doing a lot of grouse hunting and fall camping.
