Wisconsin man dies removing deer from road
Authorities are investigating a fatal car crash in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin after a man died removing a deer from the road after being hit by two cars.
Authorities responded Tuesday at 5:40 p.m. to Highway 8 and Second St. just east of Turtle Lake.
The Barron County Sheriff’s says it all started when a driver hit a deer. He and a passerby stopped to move the animal out of the road. The initial driver, a 75-year-old man from Cameron, was hit by two cars and pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies responded to the scene with the Turtle Lake Police Department, Turtle Lake Fire Department, Cumberland Ambulance, Turtle Lake First Responders, and Life Link Helicopter.
The drivers of the other vehicles were a 48-year-old Rice Lake Man and 62-year-old Alema man.
Highway 8 was closed for four hours while the Wisconsin State Patrol recreated the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office believes this incident was a tragic accident. The Barron County District Attorney will review the case.
