The Wildcat Sanctuary thanks donors for contributions to ‘Catio Town’
The Wildcat Sanctuary is celebrating the completion of their latest project Catio Town and is thanking donors for their help to make it a success.
The building is a rescue shelter made up of 10 different themed rooms, each with their own patio. The space is home to the sanctuary’s hybrid rescue cats which are cats that are a combination of wildcats and domestic cats.
“You might look at these cats and they might look like your cat at home, but you can look a little bit closer and you’re gonna start noticing some of those wild features,” says Judson Tharin the Communications Specialist.
If you’d like to help by making a donation you can do so on their website here.
The hybrid cats’ wild instincts are what causes conflict with the owners who are unprepared. Judson says, “We receive rescue calls for these hybrid cats on a weekly basis. We’re wanting Catio Town to kind of be a beacon for what’s happening in what we call the small cat crisis here at the Wildcat Sanctuary.”
Founder tammy thies says, “Most of these cats that we’ve taken are taken from the euthanasia list. And so thinking of these cats’ lives would have ended because they don’t use litter boxes, to now get to live in a fantasy land for cats is pretty awesome.”
Each cat room has a specific theme which the team says is fun for the cats but also fun for the staff who work hard to protect the lives of the animals that they rescue.
