UWS men's soccer falls short to Amherst, ending season in Sweet 16
The UWS men’s soccer team’s magical run has come to a close, as the Yellowjackets fell in the Sweet 16 to Amherst, 3-2 in overtime.
The Yellowjackets found themselves down 2-0 before Josh Bellamy scored on a penalty kick to cut the deficit in half. Minutes later, Aaron Shartin-Folkert sent a header to the corner of the net to tie the game at 2-2.
In the first overtime session, neither team could convert on their chances, but in the second, Amherst scored to end the game, as they advanced to the Elite 8.
The Yellowjackets end their season with a 18-4-3 record.
