Northland musician Jon Edwards highlights Chum benefit concert, new music

Blues-singer Jon Edwards picks his way to CHUM

This morning, Blues and Folk player Jon Edwards came to GMN to play and talk about his history with the genres. You can find him on Bandcamp or see him live at a benefit-concert for CHUM.

Local musician Jon Edwards joined Good Morning Northland to share his music and discuss his passion projects, including an upcoming benefit for Chum.

Edwards’s style is traditional blues and folk, and he showcased his one-of-a-kind Trone resonator guitar. The instrument, custom-made by Mule Resophonic Guitars in Saginaw, Michigan, was gifted to him by fellow musician Charlie Parr.

As the holiday season approaches, Edwards revealed plans to record a Christmas album with his friend and producer, Xander. The project is set to feature a mix of holiday classics.

Edwards also highlighted his involvement in a benefit concert for Chum, a local organization supporting the unhoused community. Edwards helped organize the event in response to city ordinances passed in August that restrict tent camping within Duluth.

“It’s time to rally behind the houseless community and the organizations that are there to help,” he said.

The concert will feature Edwards, Parr, and other local musicians looking to raise awareness and funds for Chum’s efforts. The concert is taking place on Tuesday, November 26th at the Sacred Heart Music Center at 7:00 p.m.
