SLC Board to host another public meeting for 2025 Budget

The St. Louis County Board is hosting a second public meeting Monday, November 25 to get community input on the 2025 county budget. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth.

The meeting will also be live-streamed on the county’s Facebook page.

The 2025 budget will total approximately $505.6 million, according to St. Louis County Communications Manager Dana Kazel, ahis would include $180 million collected through the levy. That amount was preliminarily approved by the County Board in September.

The 2025 levy would be a 7.23% increase compared to last year, but a gross the the county’s tax base will help offset that increase as per Kazel.

“A home valued at $400,000 will see an approximately $10 decrease in the county portion of its property taxes compared to a home valued at that amount last year,” explained Kazel. “Meanwhile, commercial properties experienced less valuation growth overall this year and will likely see minimal impact on their county property taxes.”

Those unable to attend the meeting can provide their opinion directly to the board.

The board will vote on the final budget and levy on December 17.
