Gas station fire in Sawyer County under investigation

Fire did extensive damage to DJs Mart Gas Station in rural Sawyer County on Saturday. According to the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in just before 5 a.m. on a report of a fire on State Highway 27/70 in the Village of Radisson. Authorities ask if anyone has any information regarding the fires or observed any suspicious activity near the area to contact police.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming out of the eaves of the west side of the building. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire but the Sheriff’s office says there was a lot of damage to the building.

The Sawyer County Sheriff says the gas station was unoccupied at the time. The Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the fire. According to the Sheriff’s office report, there have been additional structure fires that have occurred in the are in the past week.

The Sawyer County Deputies were assisted by the Lac Courte Oreilles Police Department, Radisson, Winter, Exeland and Couderay Fire Departments.
