Happy Thanksgiving! Today will be cloudy with temperatures staying in the mid-20s. Light snow is possible in the evening, with most of the Northland getting under an inch of accumulation.
Gusty northwest winds will increase the chances of lake-effect snow along the South Shore and in far northern St. Louis County, downwind of Lake Kabetogama and Namakan Lake. The South Shore Snow Belt will continue to have lake-effect snow showers for several days.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for far northern St. Louis County until 6 am Friday. Up to four inches of snow is possible in that area. The U.P. will be under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 pm tonight until 6 am Saturday. Accumulations will range from around five inches of snow in Bayfield to 17 inches in Ironwood.
Overnight lows will be mostly in the teens tonight, but some areas in northern Minnesota will drop to the single digits. An extra layer is recommended for Black Friday shoppers as it will stay windy and only reach the upper teens in the afternoon.
