Gabby Rusk is working to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout
Part of becoming an Eagle Scout is completing an Eagle Scout Project. Gabby Rusk is a Life Scout from Troop 221 in Superior, and she held a cornhole tournament fundraiser for her Eagle Scout Project.
She is raising money along with supplies like clothing, hygiene products, diapers, duffle bags, blankets and toys for foster kids in Douglas County.
Gabby’s cornhole tournament also included a silent auction and with with a 50-50 raffle at the Superior Elks Lodge. The Cornhole Tourney included 50% payback, with the other 50% going to Gabby’s fundraiser for her project.
“We’ve gotten a lot of donations, it’s going to be a big project, and it’s going to make a big impact. Originally, I only was planning to get 20 duffel bags and, or a little more than that,” Gabby said. “I’m pretty sure it’s going to be way bigger than 20, maybe 40 or 50. It’s going to be big.”
John Johnson, the owner of of Twin Ports Cornhole helped Gabby with the cornhole tourney. He says there were over 70 people total who showed their support for Gabby’s Eagle Scout project.
“The Cornhole part is kind of just a little bonus to the rest of the whole deal,” Johnson said. “There’s a lot of community members, businesses that donated. We got many raffle items, and it was pretty cool to see that the community come together for Gabby.
