Lea Zmurko: BRrracing for the blustery cold
Artic air moves into the Northland as the entire area will fall well below zero tonight and the consistent northwest winds will lead to low windchills. There is a cold weather advisory in place for the Northland as the air outside will feel hard and bitter with the windchill and cold air mass continuing into tomorrow. This afternoon will feel chilly and anywhere from 5 to 25 degrees below zero.
Light snow continues across the head of the Lake this morning and lake effect precipitation will lead to moderate to heavy snowfall across the snowbelt of the S. Shore. Winter storm warning and winter weather advisories remain in place until tomorrow morning. 6-12 inches are expected in northeast Iron County and an addition 3-6 inches will fall across the Bayfield Peninsula.
High pressure will arrive mid-day Thursday so the skies shall clear, and temperatures will remain chilly ahead of the weekend warm up.
Temperatures will return to moderate conditions by the weekend along with some light snow accumulation Friday night into Saturday.
