Track down the best displays with the Minnesota Holiday Lights Guide
The Minnesota Holiday Lights Guide is back up for people to track down the best displays at homes and event spaces around the state.
It also includes spots in western Wisconsin.
“I started this Minnesota Holiday Lights Guide back in 2017,” Mike Marcotte said. “Back then, I noticed that newspapers weren’t printing out where to go see holiday lights anymore. And a few shows, especially here in the Twin Cities, had stopped running. So I was like, where do I go see holiday lights?”
In 2024, he has more than 150 light displays listed in the guide, including Bentleyville Tour of Lights.
“I actually have a list of all of the big shows that have at least 1 million lights like Bentleyville that are here in the Twin Cities, that are in southeastern Minnesota, that are up in the Northland as well,” Marcotte said. “Plus all those residential displays. So that’s the vast majority of them are people who put on big shows that are all set to music in their own front yards.”
It’s free to list your own display on GiveMetheMike.com. An interactive map can even help plan a route to see several light shows in one outing.
“I really enjoy putting this guide together because I recognize all of the hard work that these homeowners go through. It’s months of planning, it’s months of installing, it’s days of tweaking displays. And then they put on this big show that we all get to enjoy,” Marcotte said. “So we’re recognizing all the hard work that they put in.”
