The Sea Lion Splash and the Frozen Basin are two of the features at this weekend's Arrowhead Ice Fishing and Winter Show at the DECC.

For ice anglers and winter enthusiasts alike, the Arrowhead Ice Fishing & Winter Show is back at the DECC this Friday through Saturday.

There will be fish houses, winter clothing, gear, ATVs, and more as a variety of exhibitors showcase their products. Northwind Trailer Group is one of the exhibitors and has a 43-foot Toy-Hauler Gooseneck Trailer set up inside the DECC. The group sells custom-made trailers for ice fishing and will place them for customers.

The Sea Lion Splash is an informative presentation featuring rescued sea lions and their handlers. This is the only traveling, self-contained sea lion attraction in the United States.

“They were rescued either due to injury, or illness or may have been a victim of pollution. So, that’s a little bit about our show,” said Trainer and Presenter Daniel Rodriguez. “They do a couple of tricks, like recycling, and then what they do if they were to see a shark. In the wild, they’re natural defenses.”

This year’s Arrowhead Ice Fishing & Winter Show also has a Frozen Basin feature where you can catch a variety of multi-colored, tagged Rainbow Trout. Each tag has a different prize or redeemable certificate that is awarded to winners.

“The Frozen Basin is one of, I think, everyone’s favorite parts of the Arrowhead Ice Fishing Show. There’s a chance to just get in line and catch some fish, and you can win some really cool stuff. I know it’s always been a great attraction for everyone of all ages,” said angler Emily Manning.

Another feature is the “Ice Box” panel of pro-staff who will host open panel discussions about everything related to the sport of ice fishing. The panel discussion schedule can be found at this link.

Lastly, there is a “Field and Flame” presentation with Chef Frank McQuade. New to the Arrowhead Ice Fishing & Winter Show, McQuade will showcase three mouthwatering ways to prepare fish tacos using products from Field & Flame.
