Truckers for Tots makes special delivery at Salvation Army in Duluth
A big delivery day at the Salvation Army in Duluth, with Truckers for Tots dropping off a semi full.
The $11,000 worth of toys purchased Thursday night at Fleet Farm are now ready to be sorted into age group. Fleet Farm gives them a discount, and gift cards as well.
Mike Cooper, from Ascendance Truck Centers, said, “For my team and my work family, it is phenomenal. I mean, it is probably the best feeling you can have. And to have their support and all of our customers, vendors, donators, to feel as strongly as we do about it, it is marvelous.”
Dave Evans Transport was a huge sponsor, donating a truck and driver for the delivery as well.
The drop off Friday comes at a good time, since the Salvation Army is down 50% of what they normally have for kids.
“Usually, there are toys flooding certain rooms that are now so empty, which is a little concerning to us. I mean, at this point, there’s only going to be two toys per kid. And last year, there were four. So this donation is going to be a huge help for us,” shared Cyndi Lewis, Community Engagement Director for the SA.
They’re still worried about making their Red Kettle campaign goals as well, so consider signing up for a ringing shift.
