Ski jumping used to be a popular sport among Northlanders.

Film from Dec. 19, 1972 shows people using the ski jump at Copper Peak in Ironwood, Mich.

The jump went out of operation in 1994. It is 469 feet long with a 35-degree slope.

There were also jumps in Cloquet and at Duluth’s Chester Bowl.
