Lea Zmurko: Dense AM fog and a mild stretch ahead
It’s the day before Christmas, and thick fog has settled into the region. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until noon.
Please proceed on the roads and sidewalks with caution. Temperatures below freezing will result in freezing fog which could lead to patchy ice accumulation on area roads. Bridges and overpasses will be most prone to some icing If driving, slow down, use your low-beam headlights and fog lights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you. This fog and milder air will likely hang around for part of the day before returning tonight. It’s a good thing Santa has Rudolph to help lead the reindeer tonight.
Temperatures will continue to be above average through the week. Rain showers return this weekend and spell bad news for lakes and trails. Ski hills will likely see some changes too. We’ll end the month of December on a warm stretch and start the new year warm too.
