One Book Northland 2025 is ‘Where Rivers Part’
The book Northlanders will read together in 2025 is “Where Rivers Part: A Story of My Mother’s Life” by Kao Kalia Yang.
It’s the 24th year of the “One Book Northland” initiative.
It’s a memoir that follows Yang’s mother’s journey being born in Laos during civil war, surviving starvation and refugee camps, and eventually arriving in America.
“Unflinching and poignant, Where Rivers Part reminds readers of the strength and resolve demanded of refugees who leave their homes and lives in search of a better future,” a press release from the Duluth Public Library said.
Events surrounding One Book Northland will be announced in March. Libraries and bookstores around the Northland are participating by stocking copies and hosting events.
