River View Loppet ski race in Brule canceled

The River View Loppet Cross Country ski race has been canceled due to lack of snow. According to organizers, the race was scheduled for Saturday, January 18 at the After Hours Ski Trails in the Brule River State Forest in Brule, Wisconsin.

The annual event attracts over 100 youth and adults who want to participate in classic and skate style events. The Loppet’s 18 km classic race is the fifth of 12 races in the Finn Sisu Tour de Finn ski series.

Organizers say there isn’t enough snow to hold the event, with little snow in the forecast.

Last week the Brule Valley Ski Club had to cancel their Learn to Ski event for the same reasons. Organizers say an alternate day may be announced, depending on the snow conditions.

The After Hours Ski trails are owned and groomed by the Wisconsin DNR, in cooperation with the Brule Valley XC Ski club and volunteers.
