Music of the ’40s returns to the Time Arc Theatre

To honor the music of post-World War II America, Don and Sherry from the Time Arc Theatre host "Sentimental Journey; 1945 Musical Review." Listen to popular swing music of the era and celebrate the 80th wedding anniversary of Marge and Dick Bong. You can join them Sunday, January 19th at 2 P.M over at the Time Arc Theatre in Superior.

This morning on Good Morning Northland, Sherry and Don from the Time Arc Theatre stopped by to give us a sneak peek into their upcoming production, The Sentimental Journey. With a mix of classic tunes and heartfelt storytelling, this show promises to transport audiences back to 1945.

This Sunday, the Time Arc Theatre invites you to embark on a heartfelt journey through 1945 with their musical revue, The Sentimental Journey. Featuring nostalgic swing tunes and emotional wartime ballads, the show honors two monumental events: the end of World War II and the 80th wedding anniversary of Marge and Dick Bong, a beloved local couple.

“Music from that era wasn’t just entertainment—it was a lifeline,” shared Sherry. “The songs helped people cope with the hardships of war.” With classics like “Sentimental Journey” and narratives by Teddy Moronic, the production ties music to its historical and emotional roots, all backed by the incredible Randy Lee Ensemble.

Incorporating the legacy of Marge and Dick Bong, the show celebrates the personal connections they represent. “They were sweethearts, just like so many people of that time,” said Don. The couple’s story, intertwined with music, evokes the essence of resilience and love during a pivotal era.

The performance concludes with a special sing-along, inviting the audience to become part of the story. “Every show we do includes this element,” said Sherry. “It’s a way to connect everyone to the music and the moment.”

The event will take place in the Third Floor Ballroom of the Old Post Office Building at 1401 Tower Avenue on Sunday at 2:00 PM, with just one performance scheduled. The venue is fully accessible, featuring ramps and an elevator for easy access to the third floor. Tickets can be purchased online at timearktheater.com or at the door.
