Tuesday night was full of basketball in the Northland, as Rock Ridge boys basketball snapped Cloquet’s winning streak at nine, winning 66-59, Duluth East protected home court against Grand Rapids 59-50, and Duluth Marshall girls dominating Ely, 96-45.

Rock Ridge went on the road with the tall task of taking down a Cloquet team who hadn’t lost in a month, but a three point attack from Eli Devich was enough to fuel the Wolverines past the Lumberjacks. In addition, the 59 point total for Cloquet marks the lowest team total of the season.

Cloquet turns to take on Superior on Friday at 7:15 p.m., while Rock Ridge faces Duluth Marshall on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Duluth East and Grand Rapids were locked in a defensive battle as well, as the Greyhounds found themselves up ten at the half, 26-16. Both teams benefitted heavily from their play in the paint, but specifically Duluth East.

The Greyhounds look to add another win when they take on Blaine on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., while Grand Rapids will have to bounce back against Hibbing on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.

Duluth Marshall girls basketball had no problem with Ely, as their offense exploded early and never looked back. An early 8-0 run in the first 40 seconds of the game set the tone, as the Hilltoppers never let their foot off the pedal.

Ely will look to get back on track against International Falls on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while Duluth Marshall will take on Grand Rapids on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
