Community organizer reacts to ceasefire deal
Many feel relieved worldwide with Israel and Hamas potentially reaching a ceasefire deal on Wednesday. This includes Duluthian Angel Dobrow, a community organizer who has been part of the local protests against the war.
Dobrow works with Palestine Solidarity Working Group, a coalition of organizations that has been showing movies and holding educational events supporting Palestinians. Efforts have included the protests against the DFL convention last summer and the four-month encampment in front of Duluth City Hall. The group has been demanding a ceasefire, but Dobrow says that more needs to be done.

“The first thing was to get the ceasefire in place so the bombing is stopped. But now there’ll be the task of supporting the Palestinian residents that have been able to remain in Gaza,” explained Dobrow. “I think that immediately there needs to be just a rush, a tremendous rush of supplies. Palestinians are being starved in their homes if they’re able to even be in a home, so the U.S. needs to turn around and immediately send as much aid as possible. Food, medical supplies, water, more permanent shelters.”
