Update: House in Biwabik Township total loss after early morning fire

A house fire early Friday morning in Biwabik Township left four people injured and destroyed a residence along with multiple structures, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and several fire departments responded at around 5 a.m. near the 4800 block of Vermilion Trail. Authorities said the occupants were sleeping when they were awakened by fire alarms. All managed to escape the home in time.
Emergency medical personnel treated the victims at the scene before transporting them to a medical facility. Two individuals suffered serious injuries, while two others sustained minor injuries, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Minnesota State Fire Marshal. Authorities said there is no indication the fire was suspicious.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to routinely check and maintain their fire alarms.
