Envelope please: Name a Snowplow contest winners announced

The winners for MnDOT’s 2024-25 Name a Snowplow contest have been announced. After the votes were tallied, Skol Plow has been selected to represent District 1 (Northeast Minnesota). “Dolly Plowton” helped plow the Northland last year, and “Clearopathra” the year before.

Governor Tim Walz made the announced the winners Wednesday afternoon, February 12 and poked fun at the states that have followed Minnesota’s lead since MnDOT started the contest in the 2020-2021 season.

“This is a fun time for us to name plows, which I will tell you, other governors do acknowledge they stole the idea from us at MnDOT,” said Gov. Walz. “They all do it now, but they even will acknowledge it started here.”

The winning names, in order of vote totals, and their future homes are:

  • We’re Off To See The Blizzard – District 8 (Southwest Minnesota)
  • Snowtorious B.I.G. – District 4 (West Central Minnesota)
  • Plowabunga! – District 6 (Southeast Minnesota)
  • Anthony Sledwards – Metro District (Twin Cities)
