Sabrina Ullman: Bitter cold conditions continue
It’s been chilly the past few days, and that will continue. Overnight lows will range from -8 degrees in Ashland to -15 degrees in Virginia. Wind chill values will be between -20 and -30 by the time we get to Thursday morning.
Thursday will be mostly sunny and cold with afternoon highs in the single digits. Wind chill values will stay in the negative 20s.
We will see temperatures warm to the teens on Friday, but we will also have our next chance of snow that afternoon. Snow accumulation will be 1-3 inches, most of which will fall on Friday evening. Roads will likely get slick by evening rush hour.
We will have a break from snow chances once the snow clears out on Saturday morning. Cold weather, however, will stick around into next week with temperatures staying 15-20 degrees below normal. This will be good for the snow depth across the Northland as we look forward to the Birkie at the end of next week and the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon at the start of March.
