Proctor/Hermantown Mirage prepare for their return to the Class A State Tournament
On February 19th, the Proctor/Hermantown Mirage will take to the ice to battle in the Minnesota State Class A girl’s hockey quarterfinals.
“I think we’re just really excited again for another opportunity at a state championship. We’re going down there. The girls got their eyes on this one. I know last year getting beaten overtime against Ward in the quarterfinal. I mean, we got some girls that really are seeking revenge against that and we got to take it one game at a time but definitely focused on making our communities proud back here.” said Emma Stauber, head coach of the Proctor/Hermantown Mirage.
The Mirage won their section 7A title with a 6-1 win over Rock Ridge on February 12th and are currently sitting at a 20-6-1 record for the season, earning them the No. 5 seed in the State tournament.
“Obviously, it’s really exciting. A little bit of nerves, but not much. Just super excited to be able to go back to the X and finish the season off strong, it’s great for our community. We have so much support. So being able to make them all proud and represent,” said senior forward Jane Eckstrom.
The Mirage will face off against No. 4 seeded Holy Angels in the girl’s hockey Class A State quarterfinals at 8PM at the Xcel Center in St. Paul, click here to view the Class A tournament bracket.
