Early game lead not enough to push No. 6 UMD women’s hockey over No. 1 Wisconsin
In the semifinal round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Final Face-off, No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey took on No. 1 Wisconsin, both teams fighting for their spot in the championship game.
UMD began the scoring just under three minutes into play with a shot from Grace Sadura. Wisconsin’s Kelly Gorbatenko would respond three minutes later with a goal of her own, tying things back up.
The score would remain at ones until the end of the second period, when Wisconsin’s Caroline Harvey would sink the puck to give the Badgers their first lead of the game.
Wisconsin would seal the deal with just a minute left in the third period with their third goal of the game, shot by Emma Venusio.
The Bulldogs end their season with a 21-4-2 record. Wisconsin advances to the WCHA Final Face-off championship game on Saturday, March 8th at 2PM.
