It’s now been two weeks since Ishkode opened their doors on the Bois Forte Reservation. Ishkode is the Ojibwe word for fire.

Paxton Goodsky is the Retail Manager. He said they’re very proud to be the first cannabis dispensary in northeastern Minnesota. “It took a lot of leg work to get here, and it’s been a good journey,” he said.

Customers have been traveling there from across the region and other states.

“We have a lot of people who are coming in who are excited. Just to see it, and be part of it. Some people have never been in a dispensary before,” Goodsky shared.

Here’s how it works. You walk in, and check in at the security desk. They will scan your ID. Then an employee called a Bud Tender will help you do your shopping. It’s cash or debit card only. And you do have to be 21 years old.

Ishkode is located at 1420 Bois Forte Road, near the Fortune Bay Casino and their RV park.

They are open 7 day as a week, from 11am-9pm.
