UMD women’s hockey puts six past Sacred Heart to advance in NCAA tournament

The UMD women’s hockey team scored six goals to blow past Sacred Heart University 6-1 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
Bulldogs’ captain Clara Van Wieren found the back of the net in the first period, which would be the only one until the second, where the Bulldogs exploded for three goals, including two from Danielle Burgen. Olivia Mobley also scored with 30 seconds left in the period, and then Burgen net her second of the game.
In the third, Grace Sadura and Olivia Mobley scored to put the game out of reach from the Pioneers.
The Bulldogs now turn to take on Cornell on their home ice, with puck drop at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
