Duluth Schools investigating after a student from a neighboring district gets inside East

Duluth School leaders are investigating after they said a student from a neighboring district went into East High School and confronted a student there.
They got into a fight in the bathroom, according to the district. This was on Thursday.
An update on Friday said that another East student had let the other person in.
Now, there are new security protocols in place at East.
They sent a statement, that said, “The safety and security of our students and staff are our top priority. We take this matter extremely seriously and are conducting a thorough review of how this individual was able to access the building. Our administration is working closely with law enforcement to assess and strengthen our safety protocols as necessary.”
“We want to assure our families and the community that we are fully committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment,” said Adelle Wellens, Communications Officer. “We will be evaluating all aspects of this situation to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
