Victim identified in fatal Cass County crash

Update: Cass County officials say 22-year-old Mikayla Butcher from Bemidji, Minnesota has died as a result of Saturday’s crash. Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk says the 23-year-old driver has been arrested with charges pending in relation to the crash.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says one person died and four others were injured in a vehicle rollover on Saturday in Cass County. According to a report, the Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls about an accident at 7:01 PM on County Road 13 in Turtle Lake Township near Walker, Minnesota.
Deputies and first responders arrived on scene and found a 2007 Dodge Nitro had left the roadway rolling over in the ditch. The report says five people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to Sheriff Bryan Welk, a 22-year-old Bemidji woman was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Two men were transported to Bemidji Sanford for additional treatment, and another man was sent to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids. One man was treated on scene and released.
The crash remains under investigation. Police are looking into what caused the crash, including possible alcohol and speed as factors.
Assisting with the scene and investigation was the Walker Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Walker Fire Department, and North Memorial Ambulance.
