Lea Zmurko: Spring storm creates a winter mess
Snow is steady this morning with a brief lull before conditions ramp up in the afternoon especially in the Iron Range and along the North Shore.

Winds will remain strong from the east as visibility fluctuated due to the blowing precipitation. Wet and heavy snow will continue to accumulate in northern Minnesota. However, temperatures will jump above 32 degrees in the late afternoon for the southern tier of the Northland and chances for mixed precipitation will heighten in east central MN and northwest WI. A light glaze of ice is possible as freezing rain and ice pellets will fall before the complete switch to rain, a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out at this point either. Skies will switch back to snow as the low-pressure system final says goodbye and departs overnight
By Thursday afternoon the storm will have exited, and skies will stay quiet besides a few light rounds of scattered snow showers.
