The stands may be empty now, but the crowd in US Bank Stadium was rocking with chants of ‘SKOL’ and ‘Go Pack Go’ for the Vikings and Packers season openers.
One of the oldest rivalries in the NFL was renewed on Sunday, one which can divide households, but also bring many families together.
“We’re ready to go. First Vikings game ever in my life. And I’m here. Let’s go. I’m pumped,” said Duluthian Nate Beaulieu.
“From the economic standpoint we must be pretty excited, it’s not cheap to get in. I want everyone to know we are sitting with a Vikings’ fan as well, one Vikings fan. I mean if we are all committed to it, if we really try we can all get along,” concluded mother and son Packers fans Marcie Hitz & Jesse.
The Vikings would drum their way to victory 23-7. The first win behind new head coach Kevin O’Connell.
