Mike Randolph considering St. Thomas Academy head coaching job

Former longtime Duluth East boys hockey coach Mike Randolph is reportedly looking at another head coaching gig.

The St. Thomas Academy (STA) associate head coach told the Star Tribune he will "probably apply" for the Cadets’ top position.

It became available after STA announced on Monday that they are not renewing the contract of head boys hockey coach Trent Eigner. He lead the program for three seasons recording a 13-13-1 overall recording during 2021-2022.

Randolph resigned from his position with the Greyhounds back in June, 2021 after citing parental pressure and lack of support from administration. He led the Duluth East boys hockey team for 32 seasons.

Since moving to Class AA in 2013, the Cadets have made the state tournament six times and have faced Duluth East twice on the state stage. The Greyhounds won their meeting in 2015. St. Thomas earned the win their 2019 meeting.
