Debate Night in Minnesota: Attorney General

The role of a state attorney general is to counsel state government agencies and legislatures. The attorney general represents the interests of the people in their state. They serve four-year terms, with no term limit.

According to the Minnesota Attorney General website, the Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Minnesota. The Office provides legal representation to over 100 state agencies, boards, and commissions and represents the State of Minnesota in state and federal court and administrative hearings.
Keith Ellison, (DFL) has served as attorney general of Minnesota since being elected in 2018. He is being challenged by Republican challenger Jim Schultz.
Both candidates attended Debate Night in Minnesota at Saint Paul College in St. Paul on Sunday evening.
