The prep basketball season is underway and for the Superior Spartans girl’s team they are coming off a great campaign where they went 24-5 on the season. This year looking to build off of that experience, beginning with the teams first practice on Monday.
“Losing to Appleton East in the playoffs was it’s hard for us because we know that we can compete at that high level. So I think taking that from last year and putting it towards this year, I think we go pretty far,” said senior captain Emma Raye.
“Emma and Savannah are four year starters. Our juniors, are three year starters and the kids off the bench have been here, too. So we have that kind of experience of getting to the sectional last year. So our expectations are high and we expect to win,” added head coach Dave Kontny.
For four year starter and senior captain Savannah Leopold, this is a chance and season for her to grow her leadership style on and off the court.
“I try my hardest to be an example for other people to look up to. Encourage all the younger people to stay in basketball and join if they aren’t, just to always do their best,” added senior captain Savannah Leopold.
The Spartans are set to begin their season on November 22nd at home against Hayward, tip-off is at 7:15 p.m.
