There’s an opportunity to celebrate the season ahead at this weekend’s WinterFest Expo.
The expo at Fitger’s includes travel ideas, wine tasting, exhibitors, and a vintage gear contest. There’s also a bonfire on Friday night.
Linda Nervick with WinterFun 101 says the event is to get people excited and ready for winter. It’s for both locals and visitors to find resources from around the region, even across the Canadian border.
“Tourism Thunder Bay is going to be visiting with us too. So they’ll be there, and we can ask questions about crossing the border and what’s it like to go up and go skiing there,” Nervick said.
Even if you don’t enjoy winter, Nervick encourages people to come and get inspiration for the season. She says she was born loving winter.
“I just remember those first snowflakes, and I just loved winter,” she said. “Maybe it’s because here we are; let’s just enjoy it, embrace it. I’ve just always loved winter.”
The WinterFest Expo is scheduled for 4-9 p.m. Friday, with a bonfire from 8-10 p.m. It also goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
