A Veteran’s Day lesson in gratitude

Great Lakes Elementary School came together for lesson on Veteran’s Day and gratitude. Flags were waving and the fifth graders sang in honor of Northland first responders, police officers, firefighter, and veterans from across the Northland.

Principal Ryan Haroldson lead the effort with an inspiring video and his own remarks. He shared with WDIO that he hope to teach them the important lesson of gratitude and that freedom isn’t free. “I think just gratitude for all the people who give us our freedom- even coming to school and getting this great education is a result of the people who came before us and served our country,” Haroldson said. This extends to past and current service members.
