Showing Minnesota’s generosity with Give to the Max Day
November 17 is Give to the Max Day, a day when the generosity of Minnesotans can make such a deep impact in communities across our state. GiveMN.org is a resource where you can find additional information about the campaign. Many organizations are working to meet matching gift challenges, and those also have a separate page to help them reach their goals.
“Every year, we start at $0 and are humbled by the power hundreds of thousands of gifts can have wen our community joins together during Minnesota’s giving holiday,” Jake Blumberg, executive director of GiveMN said in a press release.
According to GiveMN.org, Give to the Max Day began in 2009. Last year’s event set a record of more than doubling the $14 million donated during the inaugural campaign. Since 2009, Give to the Max Day has resulted in more than $300 million in donations to thousands of Minnesota nonprofits and schools. Organizers say the charitable giving of Minnesotans continues to grow.
There are more than 35,500 organizations participating this year, according to GiveMN’s website. To participate, use the search tool to find causes that you are interested in. You can search by organization name, keyword, zip code and more.
The day-long give-a-thon helps thousands of groups statewide raise funds to support their missions heading into the busy holiday season and new year. Give to the Max informally kicked off Nov. 1 for “Early Giving.”
