Stacy Crawford, owner of Klear Water Wellness, helped The Lift wrap ups its 21 days of gratitude with tips for those looking create a sustainable practice.
First of all Stacy tells us to remember the science behind gratitude. “We know that a gratitude practice can help with just about everything that you can think of: mental health issues, physical issues, cancer, diabetes… They’re noticing changes in folks who practice gratitude” Stacy tells us.
“It’s never too late to begin any new behavior, and we often think about making goals and checking boxes. It’s helpful, but I would think about starting small,” Stacy tells us this is part of “Identity Based Habits” which comes from James Clear’s book Atomic Habits. “It’s more about what does a grateful person look like?” Not just a grateful action.
Since Stacy’s son Mason’s accident in January of 2021, she says her family has been more intentional when it comes to gratitude. Her daughter Sydney has a gratitude poem that she reads at each holiday meal. And to bring the New Year, Stacy’s family names what they’re grateful for in each of the family member and then sets an intention- rather than a resolution- for the coming year. “It’s a wonderful gift,” Stacy tells us.
