Justin Liles: Snow diminishes tonight

A rather robust area of low pressure is responsible for snowfall across the southern and eastern portions of the Northland. Road conditions will continue to be difficult around the shore of Lake Superior and south through Wisconsin. Even Interstate 35 is slick for and has stretches of slow travel due to the snow from Duluth all the way to Minneapolis. Many of the warning and advisories will expire late tonight.

After all of the snow finishes tonight, cold wind chills are expected as gusty west to northwest winds build Tuesday night and last into Wednesday evening. Blowing snow is even possible in this period, which would likely create areas of reduced visibility. Gusty northwesterly winds will aid in some early morning lake effect snow along the south shore. Temperatures will kind of go up and down the rest of the weekend with a chance of snow returning on Friday.

A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly between midnight and 1am. Patchy blowing snow after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 18. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Patchy blowing snow. Partly sunny, with a steady temperature around 19. Windy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.
THURSDAY
Partly sunny, with a high near 27. Breezy, with a west wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
FRIDAY
A slight chance of snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. South wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.
SATURDAY
Mostly sunny, with a high near 19. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
