Prep boys hoops: Esko advances to Section 7AA final, Moose Lake/Willow River drops semifinals

On Tuesday the Esko boys basketball team secured a spot in the Section 7AA championship game.
In the Section 7AA semifinals at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), the top-seeded Eskomos defeated fourth seeded Crosby-Ironton 80-59 to earn their ninth straight win and a title game berth.
In the other 7AA semifinal, second seeded Pequot Lakes defeated third seeded Moose Lake-Willow River 66-59. Esko and Pequot Lakes will battle in the 7AA title game Thursday at 7pm at UMD’s Romano Gym.
In the Section 7AAA semifinals, Hibbing held off Cloquet 56-53 and Hermantown defeated North Branch 59-53 to advance to the title game Friday at 7pm at Duluth East.
In the Section 7AAAA semifinals, Duluth East fell to Andover 73-52.
In the Section 5A semifinals, Barnum downed Cromwell-Wright 57-39. Barnum will tip-off against Nevis in the championship Friday at 7pm.
