Moose Lake/Willow River blanked Mesabi East 63-0 Thursday to claim the Section 7AA title and punch their ticket back to the state tournament.
Just two minutes into the game while playing in Esko, Adam Neumann handed the ball off to Logan Orvedahl who would find the end zone first for Moose Lake/Willow River.
Then, a few minutes later the Rebels brought a big block game allowing Orvedahl to stomp his way back into the end zone for another touchdown, now 14-0 Moose Lake/Willow River.
Keeping the momentum going, Rebel’s Jackson Thompson carried the ball through the middle, then a bee-line home scored a third time in just the first quarter.
In the end, Mesabi East couldn’t get a touchdown, with Moose Lake/Willow River winning 63-0.
Chatting with Orvedahl post-game, "It feels amazing. We work all year for this, this is what we want to do for Louzek, and seeing him get another medal, seeing all of us get another medal, it’s awesome."
Head Coach Dave Louzek echoed a similar message, saying, "15 Section championships and it never gets old. These kids work so hard the community is such great support you know this is what we work for is this moment right now, and now we’re in the state tournament and hopefully a shot at the state championship."
The Rebels, now 8-0, will kickoff the state tournament November 11.
