As of Friday afternoon, all adult Minnesotans are eligible to receive Pfizer and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine booster shots.
People over 18 who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least six months ago are recommended to get a booster. Health officials say people over 18 who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should get a booster at least two months after their initial vaccine.
Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm said boosters are important to keep protection against COVID-19 high.
"Boosters are not our only way through this surge," Malcolm said in a press release. "We need all Minnesotans to continue using multiple strategies to prevent the spread of COVID, such as masking, testing, and social distancing."
She added that unvaccinated people getting the initial series is also critical. According to Friday’s MDH report, which goes through Nov. 17, 68.8% of Minnesotans 5 years old and up have gotten at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
