Both UMD hockey teams Collect victories at home

Two games were played Saturday at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, as the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women team was up against the Minnesota Gophers, an the men took on Bemidji.

In the womens match Gabbie Hughes led the way with 2 power-play goals.

UMD would give up a goal 40 seconds in, but then respond with 4 unanswered one of their own.

The Gophers would score three in a row to send it to overtime, where the Senior Maggie Flaherty would seal the deal.

UMD split the weekend series, winning 5-4.

The UMD men’s team took to the ice a little bit after looking to sweep the weekend series against Bemidji.

It was a tough checking game with no score in the first period.

Then in the second period Kobe Roth got the Bulldogs on the board, Beavers would tie it moments later.

Just past the nine minute mark in the third however Blake Biondi fires a shot in for the goal.

UMD holds off the Beaver offense with the goalie pulled winning 2-1.
